Clomiphene is a prescription medication that is used to treat infertility in women. It is used “off-label” in men to raise sperm counts in infertility situations, but has the added effect of raising testosterone levels. This is especially useful for treatment of younger men with low testosterone who desire to preserve fertility, as testosterone therapy depresses sperm counts. It often works to raise testosterone levels in older men as well.
Clomiphene has been shown to be very safe for use, with minimal side effects.
